If you are new to electronics you may be feeling that same antsy feeling I experienced upon starting my journey into the electrical engineering field. After wanting to know everything there was to know about electronics in one day, I realized I need to extend my knowledge of electrical components expeditiously. Being an expert eBay shopper was a great benefit and it helped me snag a great deal on an old Analog/Digital Trainer by Elenco. The auction listed entailed two used trainer kits for building and testing. To make a long story short, I won the bid and received two large black sturdy suitcases full of little electrical parts and half-built projects. The thematic studies underway were those of an engineer's haven.
There were months between the day the trainers arrived and the day I lugged the heavy technician service case onto the community college. I remember looking at all the colorful bits and piece admiring their uniqueness while wondering what magical power each one possessed. From resistor to capacitor to diode, the more I learned about their characteristics the more confident about the efficacy in circuit design I became.
A plethora of in class projects aided in independent successes and fails of self study projects. The once unbelievably complicated 555 timer circuit became simple; just an ordinary TTL for time keeping instead of learning-extensive. I had begun to grasp the concept of these handful of components and it was a new world holistically. Each minuscule perfected project brought great hope. And more excitingly, the freedom to create whatever came to mind.
Nowadays, I am still in awe over circuit boards and innovative gadgets. As my studies continue, I hope to become a Circuit Designer. Until then I will share my creations through tutorials and blogs.
